Dumb Bitch Parade: Laura Ingraham

Dear Ms. Ingraham,

Saying the equivalent of "Oh yeah? Well, you're fat" is not an effective counter-argument to anything. If that's all you've got, you should probably just keep your mouth shut. There's only one person in this situation whose ugliness is showing, and it's not Meghan McCain.

P.S. Could you possibly be any more transparent? Meghan McCain attacks Ann Coulter to get herself some media coverage and establish a voice, and it seems to be working, so you attack Meghan McCain to try to grab a slice of the attention because you're jealous and threatened and don't want to be replaced by someone younger and blonder. Do you wear pink on Wednesdays too?

I know I wasn't overly complimentary of Meghan's Ann Coulter blog, but I get what she's trying to do right now in terms of her career and I can kinda respect it. And trying to help the Republican Party suck a little bit less isn't necessarily a bad thing, right? It's a thankless job that I certainly wouldn't want. (I prefer being ringside with popcorn watching the GOP crash and burn, but that's just me.) Also, I feel like she deserves a little credit for being willing to come out publicly and say that maybe it's okay to be a moderate Republican and that it doesn't mean you're secretly a latte-drinking gay terrorist who provides abortions as a hobby, knowing that it would make her a target of the right wing shitstorm that comes down lately on any Republican who strays too close to that dreaded 'center' area.

Update: Right after I posted this, I noticed that Meghan's response to the whole drama had just gone up on The Daily Beast.

"I expected substantive criticism from conservative pundits for my views, particularly my recent criticism of Ann Coulter. That is the nature of political discourse, and my intent was to generate discussion about the current problems facing the Republican party. Unfortunately, even though Ms. Ingraham is more than twenty years older than I and has been a political pundit for longer, almost, than I have been alive, she responded in a form that was embarrassing to herself and to any woman listening to her radio program who was not a size zero."

We may not agree with most of her political views, but we have no problem saying we're on Team Meghan on this one.

Laura Ingraham sorta looks like a poor man's Ann Coulter anyway. So maybe that's why she was so defensive about it, lol.

If all you've got to say to a legitimate critique is hehehe you're fat then you have already lost the debate.
